Job Description: Night Shift Med-Surg Nurse

Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
Location: Asheville, NC

As a Med-Surg Nurse, you will be an integral part of a team dedicated to positive patient outcomes in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Unit Information:
- Unit: 4 West Adult Med-Surg
- Number of Beds: 34
- Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 6-7 RNs, 3 CNAs, 1 HUC
- Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 5-7 RNs, 2 CNAs, 1 HUC
- Patient Ratios: Day Shift: 1:4-6, Night Shift: 1:5-7
- Electronic Medical Records: Cerner

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult med-surg patients with various conditions.
- Monitor telemetry rhythms and identify changes in patient acuity.
- Administer IV fluids, tube feeds, IV antibiotics, and perform PEG feedings.
- Collaborate with Charge RN, Manager, Rapid Response, and Providers as needed.
- Maintain effective communication with the healthcare team and support staff.
- Attend shift huddles and follow unit policies for clocking in and out for breaks.

Qualifications:
- Required Skills:
- Telemetry rhythm capabilities
- Strong critical thinking and time management skills
- Ability to assess med-surg level patients
- Good communication skills
- Punctuality and reliability for work shifts

- Preferred Skills:
- ACLS certification

Work Environment:
- Team player attitude is essential as nurses are expected to assist CNAs and other colleagues.
- Must be willing to float to other med-surg units and occasionally in the holding pod as necessary.

Schedule Details:
- Must be available for every other weekend or rotate for 6 weekend shifts per pay period.
