Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a travel nurse RN Stepdown for a travel nursing job in West Allis, Wisconsin.
Job Description Requirements

Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts)

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks (91 days)
Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown
Facility: Select Medical (specific location not provided)
Position Overview
The RN will work in a PCU/Stepdown unit providing high-quality nursing care, patient assessment, education, discharge planning, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams. Youll supervise LPNs, CNAs, and orientees, ensuring patient safety and quality outcomes in accordance with Select Medicals core values and safety culture.
Required Certifications
- BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) - Required prior to first shift
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support - Required at CIRH sites
Job Responsibilities
- Perform full nursing assessments within 8 hours of admission
- Create individualized plans of care
- Participate in rehab-focused team meetings
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process
- Educate patients/families on conditions and discharge needs
- Delegate and supervise ancillary personnel appropriately
- Maintain thorough documentation per policy
- Support patient and employee safety within the 10 Foot Circle of Safety
- Maintain communication with interdisciplinary teams
- Monitor unit supplies and ensure cost-effective care
- Take charge nurse responsibilities if needed after orientation
- Contribute to a supportive team environment
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent bedside clinical experience (strongly preferred)
- Prior stepdown or telemetry experience is ideal
Preferred Skills
- Peripheral IVs, stroke response, sepsis/STEMI awareness
- Clinical decision-making and delegation
- Familiarity with patient rehabilitation processes
