Position Summary: This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora by optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The EP Specialty Coordinator organizes patient care activities and serves as a clinical resource to staff in their designated specialty(s) in providing quality care within EP and Cath Lab care areas. Responsible for working with physicians to obtain necessary supplies, instruments, and/or equipment in their specialty areas. Updates physician preference cards and provides in-services, training of roles, and orientation of existing or new Cath Lab staff. Oversees and directs the care of assistive personnel, maintaining final accountability for the care given to assigned patients. Coordinator must be solution oriented, leads the team / staff by example, and communicates directly with the CNC or Charge Person to maintain a smooth flow and operation of cases and delivery of care. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

This role is a leadership position in which the individual will demonstrate a professional appearance, act, and communicate with Staff, Physicians and patients to assists in the overall operation of the professional procedural Cath Lab.

II. Position Requirements:

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse with RCEP / or CEPS, or Registered Cardiovascular Interventional Specialist, RCIS with Electrophysiology Specialist (RCEP or CEPS) within one year of hire, or current active multistate RN license. Current ACLS and BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

B. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or cardiovascular educational institution. BSN preferred. If not an RN, must have credentialing from and accredited educational training institution. Responsible for maintaining and updating knowledge/skills in the fields of EP ablation procedures, Cath Lab sterile technique procedures, nursing, health care, patient education and care delivery.

C. Experience: Two years Cath Lab EP experience with emphasis in clinical specialty(s) to ensure clinical and theoretical competency preferred.

D. Special Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. Ability to manage a team and work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills. Basic keyboard and computer skills.
