The Department of Human Services stands as one of Illinois' largest agencies, employing over 13,000 dedicated professionals. Established in 1997, IDHS was created to offer streamlined access to integrated services for the state's residents. Our focus is on supporting those transitioning from welfare to work and economic independence, as well as individuals facing various challenges to self-sufficiency.
