Founded in 1895, Huntsville Hospital is a community-based, not-for-profit institution located in Madison County, Alabama. Guided by a volunteer-led governance and owned by the community, it operates under the leadership of CEO Jeff Samz. The hospital has expanded into the Huntsville Hospital Health System, encompassing facilities in Huntsville, Madison, Athens, Decatur, Sheffield, Moulton, Scottsboro, Guntersville, Boaz, and Red Bay. As Alabama's second-largest hospital, it boasts an annual economic impact exceeding $1 billion, with over 2,300 patient beds and a workforce of 16,000 across North Alabama.

Annually, the Madison County campuses admit more than 62,190 patients and handle over 163,600 emergency cases. Serving as the regional referral center for North Alabama and Southern Tennessee, Huntsville Hospital is also a teaching facility for UAB's Family Practice and Internal Medicine residency programs. It plays a pivotal role in establishing a nursing program at Calhoun Community College's Huntsville campus. The hospital is home to one of only three statewide Level I Trauma Centers.
