Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Banner Health stands as one of the largest nonprofit health care systems in the nation and the leading provider of hospital services in our communities. Our Western Region facilities serve numerous rural areas, often as the sole inpatient option available. In 2015, we merged with the University of Arizona Health Network to form Banner – University Medicine, focusing on academic medicine through research, teaching, and patient care across three academic centers.

We believe in providing patients with clear and accurate information to make informed health care decisions. This commitment is part of our philosophy to enhance lives through excellent patient care. We report on key performance areas such as heart attack and heart failure treatment, mortality rates, patient safety, pneumonia treatment, infection prevention in critically ill patients, and surgical care. Our Care Management program collects data from our 29 hospitals to measure performance against national standards and improve patient care.

As a nonprofit organization, every dollar earned is reinvested into expanding services, new technologies, maintaining facilities, and supporting our staff. We provide over $153 million in charity care through our Financial Assistance Program and subsidize medical education costs for residents who often remain in Arizona and Colorado. Additionally, we offer free services like the Banner Poison and Drug Information Center Hotline and school-based health centers for children in economically challenged areas.
