Medical Assistant certification preferred.<br> <br>Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university<br> <br>Licensed by the State of Tennessee.<br><br>Workplace Experience:<br> At least one year of experience in medical office environment.<br><br>Equipment and Skills Training:<br> Must be competent in the use Glucometer, BP cuff, thermometer, computer, autoclave, stethoscope, audioscope, <br> business phone and various oral and injectable medications.<br><br>Physical Environment:<br> Office environment.<br><br>Physical Effort:<br> Must be able to sit, stand, communicate, in English, both orally and in writing and lift over 20 pounds.<br> <br><strong>PERFORMANCE STANDARDS</strong><br> <ol> <li>Accurately records patient's medical history and vital signs.</li> <li>Gives patients immunizations and injections as appropriate.</li> <li>Counsel patients on health related issues.</li> <li>Orders and maintains medications.</li> <li>Coordinates outpatient care with local businesses.</li> <li>Secures consultations and specialists.</li> <li>Triages phone calls.</li> <li>Prepares special drug and care request.</li> <li>Trains new employees within WHMG pulmonary and sleep medicine.</li> <li>Assists physician with med/surg procedures.</li> <li>Observes universal precautions.</li> <li>Monitors sample drug closet.</li> <li>Observes proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.</li> <li>Coordinates with local pharmacies to insure patients have adequate supplies of medicine.</li> </ol>
