About the Opportunity:
. As a vital member of the Cardiac Surgery team, the APP will deliver expert, compassionate care to patients in our 18-bed Cardiac Surgery intensive care unit (ICU), step-down unit, and floor settings. Responsibilities include:
. Managed preoperative and postoperative care for cardiac surgery patients.
. Perform bedside procedures including central venous and arterial line placement, intra-aortic balloon pump removal, etc.
. Provide care for patients undergoing advanced procedures, including heart transplants, ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), mechanical circulatory support, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
. Conduct thorough patient assessments, developing individualized care plans, and closely monitoring progress.
. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of teamwork and concise communication to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
. Support seamless transitions of care between the ICU, step-down, and floor settings.
. Provide patient and family education, ensuring a clear understanding of the surgical process and recovery journey.
. Schedule: Full-time employment includes day/night/weekend/holiday rotation. Permanent night positions are available. Premium night/weekend differentials offered.
. Call schedule: No call

Qualifications:
. Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (APRN), preferably with 1+ years of relevant experience in Cardiac Surgery, critical care, or surgical settings.
. New graduates are welcome to apply.
. Eligible for licensure in the state of Connecticut.
. Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills.
