Job Summary and QualificationsThe NICU RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The tasks and responsibilities include:
Assesses,plans and evaluates patient care needs including obtaining patient history and assessing for labor risk factors.
Carries out physician orders.
Cares for patients requiring fetal assessment/fetal monitoring.
Manages the patients pain including epidural and patient controlled analgesiaadministration management
Administers prescribed medications and monitorsvital signs.
Assistsphysician during delivery, treatment,examinationand surgical procedures.
Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Monitors,recordsand communicates patient condition asappropriate utilizingcomputerized documentation systems.
Instructs and educates patients and families.
Provides age and culturallyappropriate care
Orients and mentorsnew staffmembers.
FollowsStandard Precautions using personal protective equipment asrequired
Required Job Qualifications include:
Current FL RN Licensure or
Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)
Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Providerwithin30 daysNRPwithin90 days
STABLE certification is preferred
Customer service abilitiesincludingeffective listening skills.
Critical thinking skills, decisivejudgmentand the ability to work with minimal supervision in afast pacedenvironment.
Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
Previoushigh riskexperience in a comparable LD settingrequired
