Rochester Regional Health was established as a comprehensive health care delivery system designed to meet patients' needs across various settings over time. Our extensive range of services spans from traditional acute and institutional care to innovative community-based offerings like home health care, housing, and transportation. This integration enhances convenience for our patients and underscores our dedication to providing high-quality, cost-effective care.

Achieving lasting, positive change requires collaboration among patients, physicians, institutions, employees, insurers, and the community. At RRHS, we have created a structure where physicians, health care administrators, and payers share equal input in developing solutions that align patient care goals with sound financial incentives. This collaborative approach has attracted over 1,000 physicians to our managed care initiatives.

The RRHS Plan, a partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of the Rochester Area, exemplifies the power of collaboration. In 1993, Rochester Health Care, Inc. and TGH Health System—two friendly competitors—considered forming a single multi-hospital corporation. Both organizations recognized that reforming the community’s health care system required an integrated delivery model. A feasibility study confirmed the benefits of this affiliation, and following Federal Trade Commission review, the Greater Rochester Health System was established on December 1, 1994. This marked Rochester's first multi-hospital health care system.

Our affiliates include The Genesee, Rochester General, and Newark-Wayne Community Hospitals, the Rochester Mental Health Center, and long-term care partners Hill Haven and Independent Living for Seniors. Additionally, we created the Continuing Care Network to oversee long-term care programs and drive managed care activities within the System.
