Registered Nurse - Cardiac Cath Lab
Facility: WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital
Location: Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
Unit: Cardiac Cath Lab
Shift: Day Shift, 5x8-Hour (07:00 - 15:30), Monday - Friday
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: September 22, 2025
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse with specialized expertise in electrophysiology device implants and scrubbing procedures. This role requires proficiency in both interventional and diagnostic cardiac procedures within a comprehensive cardiovascular service line. The ideal candidate will be skilled in procedural sedation monitoring and emergency response during complex cardiac interventions.
Minimum Requirements Qualifications
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (no license hits accepted).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent Cardiac Cath Lab experience. SCRUB experience is REQUIRED.
- Specialty Experience: Experience with EP (Electrophysiology) device implants is required.
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS required (AHA or ARC only).
- Technical Skills: Epic electronic medical record system experience is heavily preferred.
- Call Requirements: Must be available for 12 call shifts per month and every third weekend.
Key Responsibilities
- Function as scrub nurse for complex cardiac catheterization procedures, including EP device implants.
- Perform and assist with diagnostic catheterizations (left/right heart, pulmonary artery monitoring).
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation during cardiac interventions.
- Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias during procedures.
- Assist with interventional catheterization procedures and device placements.
- Provide comprehensive patient care during pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure phases.
- Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and technical staff.
Unit Patient Population Details
- Procedure Types: Diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, EP studies, device implants (pacemakers, ICDs), and structural heart procedures.
- Clinical Focus: Cardiac emergency management, dysrhythmia interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, and procedural sedation.
- Equipment: Advanced cardiac monitoring systems, fluoroscopy equipment, EP mapping systems, and device implantation technology.
- Patient Population: Adults requiring diagnostic and interventional cardiac care.
- Charting System: Epic EMR (heavily preferred)
Schedule Requirements
- Call: 12 shifts per month + every third weekend
- Holidays: As needed
