Job Description: Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) - Nights

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) to join our dynamic healthcare team on a 12-hour night shift, every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7 PM to 7 AM. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in the care of patients within a 18-bed mixed acuity Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), providing critical care to post-operative heart surgery patients, as well as those with severe cardiac conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, including those requiring immediate post-operative care for fresh open heart surgeries.
- Monitor and manage patient conditions, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 for fresh hearts, 1:2 for ICU status patients, and 1:3 for step-down status patients.
- Administer and titrate various intravenous medications as needed (e.g., Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Epinephrine, etc.).
- Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, including RTs available 24/7 and monitor tech specialists for optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using Allscripts - Sunrise charting system.

Qualifications:
- Current RN license valid within the state of practice.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Previous experience in a critical care or step-down unit using CRRT, including handling temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, and ventilators.
- Proficient in hemodynamic monitoring and understanding of cardiac dysrhythmias.
- Familiarity with managing acute cardiac conditions, including Acute MI pre/post-cath care.
- Must possess strong communication and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with IABP, Impella devices, and hypothermia protocols.
- Competence in utilizing advanced therapeutic drips and monitoring equipment.

Additional Information:
- Self-scheduling and block scheduling requests are available to promote work-life balance.
- Opportunities for both charge nurse roles and patient assignments during night shifts as per unit needs.
- Floating to other areas such as Med-Surg Tele may occur with a maximum patient load of six.
