Job Description: Travel RN – PACU (Post Anesthesia Care)

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa, is seeking a Travel Registered Nurse specializing in Post Anesthesia Care (PACU). This is a 13-week travel assignment with 10-hour day shifts, offering the opportunity to provide expert post-operative care in a collaborative and patient-focused environment.

About the Role:
As a PACU Travel RN, you will care for patients immediately after surgery, monitoring recovery from anesthesia and ensuring their safety and comfort. This position requires strong assessment skills, quick decision-making, and the ability to manage patients in a fast-paced surgical recovery setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures.

• Assess vital signs, manage airways, and respond to changes in patient condition.

• Administer medications and provide pain management as prescribed.

• Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery instructions.

• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe transitions of care.

Requirements:

• Active RN license (Iowa or compact state).

• Minimum 1–2 years of recent PACU or critical care experience.

• BLS and ACLS certifications required.

• Strong clinical judgment and ability to remain calm under pressure.

• Availability for 10-hour day shifts.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

• Experience in PACU, ICU, or ER strongly preferred.

• Ability to adapt quickly to different hospital environments as part of a travel contract.

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay: $2,448 per week (based on 36 hours/week)

• Contract Length: 13 weeks

• Shift: 10-hour days
