Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois.
Job Description Requirements
- Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit
- Discipline: RN
- Duration: 13 weeks
- 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12 hours, days
- Employment Type: Travel
- Monitor and assess adult patients with complex conditions requiring intermediate levels of care
- Provide care to post-cardiac cath, cardiac surgery, and medical-surgical patients with high acuity needs
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition using rapid clinical judgment
- Administer medications including vasoactive and cardiac drips (with and without titration)
- Perform and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia monitoring
- Manage a variety of lines and tubes: arterial lines, central lines, PICCs, chest tubes, surgical drains
- Start and maintain IVs; manage PCA pumps
- Provide oxygen therapy (NC, masks, HFNC, BIPAP/CPAP)
- Handle wound care and wound vacs
- Perform port access, phlebotomy, and administer blood products
- Work with interdisciplinary teams (IV Therapy, Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, PT, Social Work)
- Actively participate in hand-offs, shift reports, and team huddles
- Collaborate with physicians to implement and monitor treatment plans
- Chart timely and accurately in Cerner EMR
- Adhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, and clinical protocols
- Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment, and discharge care
License: Active Illinois RN LicenseExperience: Minimum 2 years in IMC/PCU/Stepdown, MS/Tele, or Cardiac TeleCertifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
