Skills for Chicagolands Future

Is a Chicago-based nonprofit that removes barriers to employment by eliminating biases that disqualify candidates unnecessarily. Working with local and global companies, Skills brings opportunities to neighborhoods and municipalities throughout the Chicagoland area.

To be eligible for Skills for Chicagolands Futures services, candidates must reside in Chicagoland (Cook, Lake, McHenry, Kane, Kendall, DuPage, or Will County in Illinois), and be either unemployed or underemployed, defined as working fewer than 32 hours per week or outside their field.

Misericordia Home

Misericordia Heart of Mercy is home to over 600 children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities. It helps them reach their full potential and live as independently as possible. Job Highlights

Assist residents with daily living tasks such as hygiene, grooming, and appropriate clothing selection, while maintaining a clean and organized living environment
Support and participate in recreational and community activities, including sports, swimming, dining out, and other social events
Help residents work toward individualized goals by providing guidance, encouragement, and hands-on support in areas such as self-care, mobility, and independent living skills
Build meaningful relationships with residents, acting as a mentor and role model to promote personal growth, independence, and quality of life

Pay Rate

$20.00 - $26.00 per hour

Candidate Profile

Previous caregiving experience is a plus but not required
Must be able to commute to Misericordia's campus at 6300 N Ridge Ave, Chicago, IL 60660 (0.5 mi from Peterson/Ridge Metra station)
Weekend availability is required
Passion for caregiving and working with children and adults with developmental disabilities is important
Relevant soft skills include responsibility, compassion, empathy, and creativity
