Since our inception in 1979, Addus has remained steadfast in its mission to deliver exceptional care to the elderly, disabled, and chronically ill, particularly those at risk of hospitalization or institutionalization. Originally a home cleaning service, we expanded into providing essential chore services to Chicago's vulnerable elderly through a city contract. Our journey of growth continued as we acquired additional home care contracts across various states, opened new branch offices, and diversified our service offerings.
In a unique twist of fate, an employee from California, with a passion for ancient deities, suggested the name Addus during a national contest. Inspired by an ancient Celtic deity symbolizing health and wellness, we embraced this identity and rebranded as Addus HomeCare in 1996. By 2016, we refined our strategy to focus on expanding within our existing states while integrating clinical care services. Today, we proudly provide personal care to over 42,000 patients and offer home health and hospice services to more than 3,600 patients across 210 offices in 22 states.
Our Board of Directors and leadership team have cultivated a culture rooted in values that ensure our patients receive the utmost care. They have strategically positioned Addus for growth, enabling us to reach more patients while acting as stewards who prioritize placing the right people in key roles. Our executive team collaborates closely with senior leadership, field leaders, and the board to support our dedicated caregivers.
