Job Description: Travel RN – NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care)

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, is hiring an experienced Travel Registered Nurse for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This is a 13-week travel contract with 12-hour night shifts, offering the opportunity to provide specialized care to critically ill and premature newborns in a leading healthcare facility.

About the Role:
As a NICU Travel RN, you will deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to infants requiring intensive support. You will collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and the nursing team to stabilize, monitor, and care for newborns in a high-acuity environment. This role is ideal for nurses who are highly skilled, detail-oriented, and passionate about neonatal care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert care to premature and critically ill newborns in the NICU.

• Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and manage advanced equipment such as ventilators and incubators.

• Support families through education, updates, and emotional care during hospitalization.

• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with NICU safety protocols.

• Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality neonatal care.

Requirements:

• Active RN license (Iowa or compact state).

• Minimum 1–2 years of recent NICU nursing experience.

• BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS and PALS preferred.

• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts.

• Strong communication and critical thinking skills.

Qualifications:

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay: $2,628 per week (based on 36 hours/week)

• Contract Length: 13 weeks

• Shift: 12-hour nights
