The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) stands as the flagship academic medical center within the University of Maryland Medical System, strategically located in Baltimore. It encompasses a 789-bed facility downtown and a 177-bed midtown campus just a mile north. Our esteemed medical staff includes nearly 1,200 attending physicians, all of whom are faculty members at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, alongside 900 residents and fellows across various specialties.

UMMC proudly hosts the Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center and The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, recognized as the highest-volume trauma center in the United States. Established in 1823 in collaboration with the nation's first public medical school, UMMC continues to uphold its tradition of excellence by ensuring all attending physicians are faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
