Established in 1971 as the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital stands as one of the largest rehabilitation centers in the United States, offering comprehensive treatment services. It holds the distinction of being the only rehabilitation hospital in New England to be consistently ranked by U.S. News and World Report in its Best Hospitals survey since 1995.

The creation of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network marks a significant advancement in addressing the complexities of post-acute care in the modern era. This network encompasses Spaulding and Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospitals, along with three skilled nursing facilities: the Boston and North End Centers and The Clark House at Fox Village.

As part of the Partners HealthCare System, Spaulding Rehabilitation Network physicians collaborate closely with peers from esteemed institutions like Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital. The network provides a robust infrastructure with 196 In-patient Rehabilitation Facility beds, 120 Long Term Acute Care beds, and 331 Skilled Nursing Facility beds, complemented by 17 Outpatient Rehabilitation Centers across Eastern Massachusetts.
