For over forty years, BHcare, a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, has been a cornerstone of support and healing in the Lower Naugatuck Valley, Greater New Haven, and Shoreline communities. Committed to offering hope and assistance, BHcare addresses the multifaceted needs of individuals, families, and children facing mental illness, domestic violence, and substance use disorders. Licensed by the Department of Public Health and the Department of Children and Families, BHcare also holds national accreditation from The Joint Commission, reflecting its dedication to high standards of care and service excellence.
BHcare provides a diverse range of services to ensure comprehensive support for those in need. The Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services plays a vital role in offering safety, support, and advocacy for individuals experiencing domestic violence. It provides emergency shelter, crisis counseling, and community education to help survivors rebuild lives free from violence. The Hope Family Justice Center serves as a collaborative hub where multiple agencies unite to offer coordinated responses to domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. By centralizing services, the center ensures survivors have access to comprehensive care and resources for safety and stability.
The Parent Child Resource Center focuses on the emotional and behavioral well-being of children and their families through therapeutic and support services such as individual and family therapy, parenting support, and specialized programs addressing specific behavioral health challenges. The Alliance for Prevention & Wellness emphasizes community-wide efforts to prevent substance abuse and promote mental health wellness through education, advocacy, and partnerships with local organizations.
A significant milestone in BHcare’s service expansion occurred in December 2019 with the partnership with Fair Haven Community Health Care to establish Shoreline Family Health Care. This innovative integrated care center combines primary care with behavioral health services. Here, primary care clinicians collaborate with behavioral health professionals to enhance overall health and well-being for children and families. This integrated model ensures that physical and mental health are addressed simultaneously for a more cohesive healthcare approach.
Through these varied services and collaborations, BHcare remains steadfast in its mission to provide compassionate, comprehensive care and support to those in need, fostering healthier and more resilient communities.
