About

The Center for Justice Innovation collaborates with communities and justice systems to promote equity, enhance safety, and empower individuals and communities to flourish. Our work spans every stage of the justice system, from arrest to community reintegration. However, we aim to minimize the necessity for justice system involvement from the outset.

Our long-term objective is to identify and address the challenges that lead individuals into criminal and civil legal systems as early as possible. We achieve this by investing in underserved communities, working collaboratively with those affected by crime, and developing programs that address offenses while enhancing safety without causing lasting harm.

As an organization deeply engaged with both systems and communities, we are uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between them, fostering communication, understanding, and trust. Our strategy involves collaboration among our three core teams: research and evaluation, direct-service programming, and training and expert assistance.

Research guides our programming, programming informs our research, and together they shape our efforts to train and support communities across the U.S. and internationally in implementing customized reforms.
