Air Evac Lifeteam stands as the foremost air medical service provider in the United States, operating over 150 strategically positioned air medical bases across 18 states. As a key member of the Global Medical Response family, we excel in delivering air ambulance services to communities requiring urgent medical care and swift transport. Our commitment is to enhance access to emergency trauma care for rural Americans, ensuring that time-critical patient transport is efficient and effective.
In life-threatening emergencies, the speed of reaching a trauma center can be crucial. Approximately 90% of our patient transports originate from rural areas, as defined by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This is why over 90% of our aircraft are stationed in these regions. We believe that choosing a rural lifestyle should not compromise access to quality emergency care, aligning with our mission to provide equitable healthcare solutions.
Founded in 1985 by dedicated citizens in West Plains, Missouri, Air Evac Lifeteam was created to ensure remote communities in the Missouri Ozark region had access to air medical transportation. At a time when air ambulances were predominantly urban-based, our founders recognized the critical need for such services in rural areas far from hospitals. Today, as part of Global Medical Response, we continue this legacy with a robust network of helicopter ambulance bases across 18 states.
Our flight crews, comprising a pilot, flight nurse, and flight paramedic, are on standby seven days a week to respond swiftly to emergencies or facilitate inter-facility transport. Supported by a growing community of over 2.7 million members who pay an annual fee for free transport during life-threatening emergencies, we ensure that even the most remote areas can sustain vital air ambulance services.
