Responsibilities

Labor and Delivery RNs (LD RNs) are responsible for monitoring patients throughout labor and serve as the primary point of contact for family members. LD RNs monitor the baby's heart rate and provide immediate care to the newborn. LD RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform knowledge of phlebotomy, basic IV, and central lines
• Assess and record maternal vital signs throughout labor and post-partum stages
• Administer pain medication and other medicines as ordered
• Educate and support new mothers and families on infant care
