JOB PURPOSE: The Director Medical Surgical Services is responsible for providing effective leadership to manage the clinical and administrative direction of the nursing unit in response to patient and/or community health care needs and expectations. Clinical Role: The Director provides the framework for planning, directing, coordinating, and providing patient care services within the departments and in relation to other departments. The Director possesses a high degree of knowledge, expertise, and proficiency to role model and uphold an exemplary standard of nursing and respiratory practice. Administrative Role: The Director possesses the organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills for effective management of the departments human, material, and financial resources within budgetary guidelines. The Director utilizes sound judgement and effective communication and interpersonal skills necessary for team building and achieving customer satisfaction. The Director fosters a facility culture that focuses on continually assessing and improving performance.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum of five years of nursing experience and minimum of five years of progressive management experience required.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. BLS certification required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors or Masters degree in nursing or related field preferred.
