Pieper Veterinary is looking for experienced Certified Veterinary Technicians that are passionate about anesthesia and advanced surgical care to join our Surgery Department at Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center located in Middletown, CT.

About You:

We strongly believe that veterinary medicine is a team sport, and our ideal candidate is someone who feels the same. The ideal candidate for this role is comfortable with anesthesia, various drug calculations and protocols, and excels at anesthetic monitoring. Previous experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, as well as restraint are also crucial for this role. Experience with CPR, EzyVet and Smartflow are an additional plus, but not required. We highly value collaboration from all staff members, so please speak up, as your input is not only valued but can make a difference. A VTS (Anesthesia and Analgesia) is highly desirable (not required) and would receive additional compensation.

Compensation:

• Starting at $25.00-$35.00/hour dependent upon experience and education.
• Sign on bonus - $1,000

Anticipated schedule:

This is a full-time position with the following available schedule:

• 4- or 5-day work week with 1 weekend day required (preferably Sundays).
• 10-hour shifts (shifts can rotate between 6am-4pm / 7am-5pm / 8am-6pm / 9am-7pm)
• Optional on-call (great for additional income)

• Anesthesia experience - minimum 1 year in specialty surgery, or 3 years in primary care with advanced procedures.
• CVT license in the state of Connecticut is preferable.
• Experience with common induction agents/anesthetic agents/analgesia agents
• Ability to calculate CRIs and perform other medical math
• Experience with ventilators
• Experience with specialty anesthesia (emergent procedures specifically) is a must
• Can read ECG, capnograph and respond appropriately
• Knowledge on how and when to use a non-rebreather circuit
• Knowledge when to react with BP readings and what to do in each situation
• Skilled in time management with an understanding of the importance of table times
• Must be 18 years or older to apply.
