Night Shift - 7pm to 7am, 3 days per week

The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

It is the responsibility of the staff respiratory therapist to demonstrate proficiency in all modalities of Respiratory Care and other multidisciplinary assigned skills as defined by training and competency demonstration. The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for the execution of assignments. All care will comply with hospital and respiratory policies. May work with Respiratory Students in the clinical care setting.

Must be able to care for adolescents through the adult population. Requires full understanding and ability to utilize the Respiratory Care process. Requires knowledge, ability, and judgment necessary to: . Exercise judgment within the guidelines of the medical plan of care, department policy, and licensure practice acts. . Must possess knowledge of Respiratory therapeutics and the correlation of diagnostic assessment. . Apply scientific knowledge; use a variety of respiratory equipment; and perform multiple technical procedures. . Make discriminating observations. . Must be capable of performing CPR without limitation and respond to all emergent situations to manage respiratory status.

What you will do in this role:

• You will perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
• You will administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
• You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
• You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You will notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
• You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
• You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support
• (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist
• Graduated from an accredited school for Respiratory care, recognized by the NBRC.
• (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner- Licensed by the Texas Medical Board
• 1 year experienced Respiratory care preferred
