Job Description: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Location: Asheville, NC

About the Position:

As a PICU Registered Nurse, youll be responsible for providing high-quality care to critically ill children. This role requires a nurse with at least one year of PICU experience and PALS certification. Your primary duties will include managing patient care for a maximum of 9 beds with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:2.

Key Responsibilities:

- Implement and manage care plans for critically ill pediatric patients.
- Perform various procedures including IV starts, catheter placements, central line dressing changes, and ventilator management.
- Monitor patient statuses through hemodynamic monitoring and ICP monitoring.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and optimal care.
- Engage in trach care and tube feeding, providing comprehensive support to patients and their families.

Unit Specifics:

- Scrub Colors: Navy blue or white
- Staffing Structure: The unit has shared tech support and a unit secretary available from 9 AM to 9 PM.
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Scheduling Requirements: Minimum of 3 weekends in a 6-week schedule.
- Floating Policy: Must be willing to float to Pediatrics and NICU as necessary.

Qualifications:

- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of one year of PICU experience.
- Current PALS certification.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
