Job Title: Level 1 Registered Nurse (RN) - Psychiatric Unit

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Level 1 Registered Nurse (RN) for our Psychiatric Unit. As a member of our nursing team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients experiencing emotional disturbances or psychiatric conditions. In this position, you will conduct comprehensive assessments, develop and implement nursing care plans, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and their families to gather comprehensive case histories.
- Plan and provide individualized nursing care for patients, focusing on their medical and emotional needs.
- Make nursing diagnoses regarding the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend appropriate treatment options.
- Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health team members to design and implement effective treatment plans for clients.
- Administer and monitor patient reactions to psychotropic medications and other treatments.
- Coordinate further medical attention and interventions when necessary.
- Assist clients in understanding the nature of their emotional disturbances and the importance of adhering to treatment plans.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for both staff and patients.
- Assess vital signs and address any pain management needs for patients.
- Document all patient information, treatments, and interactions in medical charts following standard record-keeping practices.
- Ensure patient confidentiality in compliance with regulations.
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes in the electronic medical record system.
- Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and the public by responding to service requests and making appropriate referrals.

Requirements:

- Active New York State RN License.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from an approved provider (American Heart Association ONLY).
- CPI Certification (Crisis Prevention Intervention).
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric or behavioral health settings.

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Empathy and a genuine desire to support individuals with mental health challenges.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining professionalism and adherence to protocols.
