Job Description Summary:

This position leads the planning, organization, and management of the care sites pharmacy services and is responsible for the overall operational success of the department. He/she develops and implements appropriate pharmacy policies and practices and is responsible for the overall accreditation readiness, process compliance and general accountability of the department. The scope of the position includes a combination of both operational and clinical focus and depending on the size of the care site, overall coordination of all managers and management responsibilities at the respective care site.

Responsibilities And Duties:

Plans, organizes, leads, and manages all aspects of pharmacy services at both a care site as well as a service line level. Meets expectations for care site pharmacy services requirements by coordinating pharmacy activities between all care site stakeholders such as: medical staffs, nursing staffs, other departments, administration, etc. Is accountable for the overall department and care site compliance with regulatory mandates, accreditation standards, quality and safety initiatives and any other process requiring pharmacy services department level support.20%
Meets hospital and service line strategic goals by developing and revising departmental goals, policies and procedures as well as providing input in the development of system level policies and procedures. Assesses and executes on the implementation of system policies at the care site level. Coordinates activities between different pharmacy department areas, establishes and monitors services to meet customer needs i.e., patients, medical staffs, etc. . Serves as the primary liaison between departments at the care site level and communicates both care site specific and system wide information as appropriate to all teams that the manager is assigned membership.

Secures and retains staff of qualified personnel through recruitment, selection, training, and motivating. Addresses personnel issues to maintain a productive and pleasant work environment. Is primarily accountable for the ongoing evaluation and performance management of all associates with direct line of supervision. Engages the assistance and oversees the input from care site coordinators or team leads who may be contributors to these evaluations and performance improvement activities. Rounds routinely on all associates within the department and reports the results of that rounding to department and system level leadership. May be required to work in a staffing capacity should unusual or pressing circumstances dictate. Does have responsibility to participate in department call rotation.

In conjunction with Ohio Health compliance departments assures pharmacy compliance with professional standards, TJC standards, state/federal agencies rules/regulations and any other regulatory agency regulation by interpreting items and taking action to conform. Maintains responsibility to report up to both care site and system level leadership any/all compliance concerns and follow-up to any findings as may be needed. Works with nursing and medical leadership at the care site to coordinate shared compliance accountabilities when collaboration is needed to address or respond to findings. The site manager has expectations to attend any/all related meetings supporting these responsibilities and serves as the primary representative, in coordination with the system level director, for pharmacy services at the care site.

Assists the department director in developing the department operating budget and monitoring expenses to assure pharmacy financial objectives are achieved. Works closely with the service line business director and care site procurement analysts/buyer on established purchasing and inventory control programs. Responsible for communicating up to care site leadership and system level leadership on the monthly fiscal and staff management reports. The site manager owns the final accountability to the service line director for budget compliance, DRR variance reporting, MRS trending and productivity adjustments and developing a culture in full alignment with Ohio Health vision and expectations.

Represents and integrates pharmacy services into hospital's total health care system by actively participating in appropriate committees as assigned at either the care site or the system level. Has primary responsibility for representing the pharmacy service line, along with appropriate designees, as well as reporting out any/all needed communication cascading from this committee work. Specifically the site manager is the representative of the care site to the Site Manager Council and shares in the facilitation of this team as well as the Lead Technicians Council. In the case where there are no additional managers in the department the site manager is also the designated department representative to all system level collaborative teams.

Doctorate: Pharmacy (Required)OPL - Ohio Pharmacists License - Ohio Board of Pharmacy, RPH - Registered Pharmacist - Board of Pharmacy Specialties

Lead within our growing ambulatory pharmacy program as the Site Manager of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services! This position is responsible for our enterprise anticoagulation clinics and several disease-specific clinics. This position leads the planning, organization, and management of the respective clinics and is responsible for the overall operational success of the clinics. The Site Manager develops and implements appropriate pharmacy policies and practices and is responsible for the overall accreditation readiness, process compliance and general clinical and financial accountability of the department. The scope of the position includes a combination of both operational and clinical focus; overall coordination of the coordinators and informal leaders at the respective clinic care sites. This position reports to the Director of Pharmacy Services, Ambulatory Pharmacy, and will also be helping to drive billing and collaborative practice opportunities. Ideal candidates will have health-system experience in matrixed environments, prior leadership success, business acumen, passion for the patient, committed to growing others, and the ability to craft creative solutions.
