Specialty Services at Manatee Memorial Hospital

Emergency Care Center—Manatee Memorial Hospital's Emergency Care Center plays an essential role in caring for the urgent health needs of our metropolitan area, treating more than 81,500 children and adult patients each year. Child-centered emergency services feature a pediatric hospitalist on staff from 2 p.m. to midnight. In 2018, the hospital opened its new 48-bed Emergency Care Center.

Manatee Heart and Vascular Center and The Valve Institute—Manatee Heart and Vascular Center provides an individual approach to heart care. Our patients receive assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation of their specific care needs. Cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons coordinate care with other members of the healthcare team, including the surgery and emergency departments, to get you on the road to recovery. The Center offers recent advances in cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures, helping you recover more quickly, with less stress on the body and heart.

The Structural Heart Program at Manatee Memorial Hospital features a team of physicians specially trained in echocardiography, interventional cardiology and electrophysiology, along with cardiothoracic surgeons, nurse practitioners, program coordinators and navigators who are dedicated to the health of your heart and vascular system. We provide advanced treatment for patients who have heart valve disease including the WATCHMAN FLX Left Atrial Appendage Implant for patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacemerehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep, oncology, wound care and women’s and children’s services.

nt (TAVR) for patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis, and the MitraClip procedure for mitral regurgitation.

Surgery—From treating digestive disorders to cancer, the team at Manatee Memorial Hospital's Surgery Center has a wide range of experience using advanced tools and techniques, and has received national recognition. When appropriate, minimally invasive surgical techniques often offer shorter hospital stays, quicker recovery periods and a faster return to daily activities. Surgeries include general surgery, cardiac surgery, urologic and gynecologic procedures, plastic and reconstructive surgery, advanced laparoscopic procedures for gastroesophageal reflux disease, orthopedic, neurologic, spine and weight-loss.

The Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center—The Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center at Manatee Memorial Hospital features a rapid-response Stroke Alert Team to evaluate and treat all stroke emergencies 24/7. Our team-based approach allows for streamlined treatment offering advanced diagnostics and stroke treatments, including thrombolytic therapy, which can greatly benefit patients experiencing an ischemic stroke if administered within three hours.

Orthopedic and Spine Surgery—The Center for Orthopedic and Spine Surgery at Manatee Memorial Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services, including foot and ankle and hand surgeries, hip, knee, shoulder and spine surgeries, sports medicine and joint replacement. Manatee Memorial’s multidisciplinary team includes specially trained physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, case managers and an orthopedic nurse navigator.Inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services are available through the hospital.

The Lung Institute—The Lung Institute at Manatee Memorial Hospital has a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of physicians and healthcare professionals, including a dedicated nurse navigator who work together to determine the best course of action for people who are diagnosed with lung cancer.

Manatee Memorial’s Outpatient Imaging Center—Manatee Memorial’s Outpatient Imaging Center offers advanced, comprehensive diagnostic and interventional services that are delivered by highly trained radiologists and technologists in a bright, cheerful, convenient location next to the hospital.

Sleep Center—Physicians at the sleep center focus on diagnosing and treating sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, insomnia and other conditions. Our sleep center follows the American Academy of Sleep Medicine standards. Every aspect of care is carefully managed using specially-designed software unique to our practice.

Women’s Services—Women can expect excellent healthcare from Manatee Memorial at each stage of their lives. Our services include a level 2 labor and delivery and Level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a newly renovated mom baby unit, breast care and classes, inpatient and outpatient lactation consultants, support and education.

The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Treatment Program—The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Treatment Program at Manatee Memorial Hospital provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds associated with inadequate circulation, poorly functioning veins and immobility. The program provides advanced treatments, including negative pressure wound therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.
