Core Beliefs
Our History
Hospice of Virginia has more than 20 years of experience serving hospice patients across the state of Virginia. Founded in 1996 by one of the committee members that created the Medicare Hospice Benefit in 1983, Hospice of Virginia has a long history of helping more and more community members improve their quality of life. Beyond being one of the oldest hospices in Virginia, we are also one of the biggest, serving over 60 counties in the state.
Our company was one of the first to offer in-patient respite care to families and we still run an in-patient unit out of Retreat Doctors' Hospital in Richmond. Our in-patient services allow us to serve patients throughout their hospice experience, no matter what level of care is needed.
Our Clinical Team Assistant Nancy Russell shared that, For more than 20 years I have been honored to be a part of a team of dedicated professionals at Hospice of Virginia, giving hope and dignity to patients and support to their families and loved ones.
In 2019 Hospice of Virginia joined the ADDUS HomeCare family. Joining this network of hospices allowed Hospice of Virginia to focus on excellent patient care while ADDUS handled operational issues like insurance, regulations, and tech support.
ADDUS HomeCare is a leading provider of comprehensive home care and support services. Our core objective is providing great care for the elderly, disabled and chronically ill, especially those who are facing a life-limiting illness and has a prognosis of 6-months or less. In addition ADDUS focuses on those who are at risk of hospitalization or institutionalization.
